&lt;p&gt;&lt;font color="#000000"&gt;This course will help building officials understand the procedure for working with builders to receive their Energy Code certification documents and it will focus on all the construction requirements for both new home construction and remodels.&amp;nbsp; The class will gain knowledge in energy efficient framing, proper insulation installation, appropriate R-values and U-values and the 3 methods for compliance (Performance, Total Ua, Prescriptive).&amp;nbsp; The participants will be able to identify the proper procedure for compliance and the most commonly utilized compliance path for new home construction vs. remodels.&amp;nbsp; The participants will be able to perform field inspections where they can identify whether or not the home has proper framing, insulation, and other code components.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font color="#000000"&gt;This program will also include a legislative update presented by members of IABO's Legislative Committee.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;This presentation will break down the new legislation in practical terms from House Bills 1001, 1003, and 1005 and explain how communities should prepare for upcoming changes involving permitting timelines, fee structures, impact fees, code administration, and the transition of authority from the Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission to the Department of Homeland Security.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 14px;"&gt;Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of:&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Travis Dunn&lt;/strong&gt; has performed thousands of new home and existing home energy efficiency inspections since 1993. Mr. Dunn is a Certified HERS Rater and Master NGBS Green Verifier.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Mr. Dunn was one of the first certified energy raters in Indiana and signed up the first major builder in Indiana for 100% HERS ratings, then later signed up the first major production builder for 100% Energy Star certification. He created a guaranteed heating and cooling cost program for the first HERS builder, then later created a Moisture Control Program for custom builders. Mr. Dunn works with many custom builders and large production builders like G&amp;amp;G, Gradison, Old Town, Pulte Homes, Lennar, DR Horton, M/I, Beazer, Tempest, Arbor, Davis and many others.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Ike Thilen, Indiana Sales Manager&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

This seminar will also help the code user to correctly locate the applicable code requirements.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font&gt;Mark Fasel is the Director of PMG Technical Resources for the International Code Council where he serves as a subject matter expert to the plumbing, mechanical, fuel gas, swimming pool and spa, and private waste sewage disposal code disciplines.&amp;nbsp; In his role at ICC, Mark also serves on multiple federal and state coalitions, task forces, committees, and councils where expertise in I-Code subject matter is required.&amp;nbsp; This includes serving as Technical Committee member for multiple CSA, ASTM, and NFPA standards referenced by the International Codes.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font&gt;Mark has more than 25 years of experience in government, manufacturing, and the construction industry, including roles as building inspector for the City of Indianapolis, Building Commissioner for the City of Fishers, and Senior Manager of Government Affairs and Codes and Standards for Viega, LLC.&amp;nbsp; Mark is a Past President of the Indiana Association of Building Officials, holds numerous certifications from the International Code Council and a degree from Vincennes University.&amp;nbsp; Mark builds the next generation of the industry by serving as a 4&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; year plumbing apprentice instructor at Mechanical Skills plumbing trade school in Indianapolis.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
