Transitioning from 2003 IRC to 2015 IRC

Indiana Association of Building Officials will host a seminar on July 27, 2017 to present and discuss Transitioning from 2003 IRC to 2015 IRC

- Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.
- Class will start at 9:00 a.m.
- There will be 1 hour for lunch
- Class will conclude at 4:00 p.m.
Cost:
Member: $100*, this fee will cover the instructor and materials
Non-member: $125*, this fee will cover the instructor and materials

*IABO has applied for funding through the Statewide Fire and Building Safety Education Fund (675 IAC 12-11). Please DO NOT pay in advance as an invoice will be sent following the class.
This course consists of 6 contact hours and earns 0.6 ICC CEU's.
Class Description:
This seminar will assist participants in implementing the transition from the 2003 IRC to the 2015 IRC. It will include relevant changes. This interactive training will focus on the key changes presented in the participant material. Knowledge review questions will provide opportunity for participants to discuss and consider the changes. During this training, participants will be listening to lecture and engaging in class discussion and exercises. The 2018 Indiana Residential Code Committee is currently reviewing the 2015 IRC, 2nd Printing.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be better able to:
- Identify the key differences between the 2003 IRC, 2012 IRC, and the 2015 IRC.
- Explain the differences between the current and previous editions.
- Apply the code requirements for design, plan review and inspection.
Presenter: John M. Gibson, Jr., M.C.P., C.B.O., C.P.C.A., C.F.M.
John is a Technical Advisor and Instructor for the International Code Council (ICC). A certified Master Code Professional and Certified Fire Marshal; he has forty (40) other certifications, including thirty-three (33) from the ICC. Having earned a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Delaware, he has also studied Architecture at Georgia Tech and completed courses in Emergency Management and Fire Prevention at the National Emergency Training Center. Formerly the Director of the Department of Permits and Inspections for Frederick County Maryland, he is an ICC Honorary Member, has served on the ICC-Evaluations Services (ICC-ES) Board of Directors, the ICC Code Correlating Committee, the Board of Directors for BOCA International, Inc., Maryland's Governor's Smart Code Strategy Group, Chaired the ICC Board for International Professional Standards and is an Honorary Member and Past President of the Maryland Building Officials Association. He currently teaches ICC administrative, building, residential, existing building, property maintenance, zoning, green building, wildland/urban interface, energy courses, and is a contract instructor at the Dept. of Homeland Security, United States Fire Administration, National Fire Academy, and Emmitsburg, MD. He recieved the ICC Educator of the Year award in 2010.
Registration Deadline:
The registration deadline is July 20, 2017. Registrations received after July 20 will not be guaranteed class materials at the time of class.
Parking:
Due to Farmer's Market Activities on our Training Dates June through September please park behind Brownsburg Town Hall in the rear parking lot East of Adams Street.
Cancellation Policy:
All cancellations must be received in writing no later than July 20, 2017 to avoid penalty. All late cancellations and no shows will be billed $50. Faxed cancellations must be verified they were received. It is the responsibility of the registrant to make the verification. Emergencies will be dealt with on an individual basis.
