Introduction to Sprinklers, Pumps and Standpipes

Indiana Association of Building Officials will host a seminar on August 24, 2017 to present and discuss Introduction to Sprinklers, Pumps and Standpipes

*IABO has applied for funding through the Statewide Fire and Building Safety Education Fund (675 IAC 12-11). Please DO NOT pay in advance as an invoice will be sent following the class.
This course consists of six contact hours and earns 0.6 ICC PPN CEU's. The PPN# for this class is 4955.
Course Description:
Knowing the various types of fire protection systems that go into a building is the key to understanding their role in protecting property and lives. This program will take the participant through the various components of sprinkler systems, fire pumps and standpipes and discuss how the systems work individually and collectively to provide protection from fire in buildings. Starting with a bit of history on these systems the seminar covers the type of systems, types of sprinklers, pump types and components, terms and basic definitions used in NFPA 13, 14 and 20.
Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar, the participant will be able to:
- Identify the components of fire sprinkler systems
- Identify the components of fire pumps and drivers
- Identify the components of a standpipe system
- Discuss how these three systems interact to provide water-based fire protection within a building
- Discuss the importance of inspection, testing and maintenance

Presenter: Jeffrey M. Hugo, CBO
Jeffrey M. Hugo is the Manager of Codes for the National Fire Sprinkler Association and is a Michigan registered Building Official, Building Inspector, and Plan Reviewer since 1995. He represents the fire sprinkler industry primarily in the development of building, fire, existing and residential codes through serving on several NFPA technical and ICC committees. Jeff contributes in research, informal interpretations of codes, exam development, training, and regularly contributes building code related articles to publications such as NFSM and industry newsletters. Jeff is editor of the 2009, 2012, and 2015 editions of Fire Sprinkler Guide, and holds a multitude of certifications by the ICC, including the Certified Building Code Official (CBCO).
Registration Deadline:
The registration deadline is August 17, 2017. Registrations received after August 17 will not be guaranteed class materials at the time of class.
Parking:
Due to Farmer's Market Activities on our Training Dates June through September please park behind Brownsburg Town Hall in the rear parking lot East of Adams Street.
Cancellation Policy:
All cancellations must be received in writing no later than August 17, 2017 to avoid penalty. All late cancellations and no shows will be billed $50. Faxed cancellations must be verified they were received. It is the responsibility of the registrant to make the verification. Emergencies will be dealt with on an individual basis.
