*IABO has applied for funding through the Statewide Fire and Building Safety Education Fund (675 IAC 12-11). Please DO NOT pay in advance as an invoice will be sent following the class.
This course consists of six contact hours and earns 0.6 ICC PPN CEU's.
Course Description:
Training will provide an in-depth overview of the Indiana Residential Code as it relates to Residential Swimming Pools (675 IAC 14-4.3-270 thru 296). Participants will have an understanding of how the code was developed, and will have a working knowledge of the core principles needed to correctly interpret and apply the code.
Participants will have an understanding how the Residential Swimming Pool Code works with the practical application of the 2009 Indiana Electric Code.
Training methods used will employ lecture, group discussion and visual aids.
Participants, at the conclusion of the training, will be able to accurately apply the Residential Code to the various types of Residential Swimming Pools.
Course Objectives:
Discussion of development, definitions that make the difference, and physical characteristics of a code compliant residential pool. Will also explore some areas of confusion/interpretation.

Presenter: John Hibner
John Hibner is a Senior Plan Reviewer with Jacobi, Toombs and Lanz, Inc. Consulting Engineers and Land Surveyors (3 years); performing building code plan reviews for the Cities of Indianapolis and Louisville, KY. John was a State of Indiana employee for 30 years, of which 13 years were as a plan reviewer and code specialist. As a member of Tech Services (previously Technical Services, Research and Education/Information) he published the Code Explorer newsletter, chaired numerous review committees, composed language for Indiana amendments, held education classes for local building officials, and aided the DFBS Commission and State Building Commissioner with code interpretations. He is a certified Master Code Professional by ICC. Among his many interests are Scouting and education.
Registration Deadline:
The registration deadline is March 13, 2019. Registrations received after March 13 will not be guaranteed class materials at the time of class.
Cancellation Policy:
All cancellations must be received in writing no later than March 13, 2019 to avoid penalty. All late cancellations and no shows will be billed $50. Faxed cancellations must be verified they were received. It is the responsibility of the registrant to make the verification. Emergencies will be dealt with on an individual basis.
Attendance Notice Regarding Certificates/Funding:
Indiana Association of Building Officials is committed to complying with the requirements of the Division of Fire and Building Safety, as they administer the education fund.
As Indiana Association of Building Officials submits the request for funding on behalf of the membership, IABO will not submit an attendee’s name who does NOT attend the entire class; failure to attend the entire class renders that attendee ineligible for funding.
