A training seminar sponsored by the Indiana Association of Building Officials, Inc. a chapter of the International Code Council, Inc.


Date: Wednesday, March 15, 2023

  • Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.
  • Class will start at 9:00 a.m.
  • There will be 1-hour allotted for lunch (lunch will not be provided)
  • Class will conclude at 4:00 p.m.

Location:  Zionsville Town Hall, 1100 W. Oak St., Zionsville, IN 46077

Parking:  Attendees SHOULD NOT park at Zionsville Town Hall Parking has been coordinated at Kroger and Zionsville Christian Church.  The registration confirmation email will include the map showing where parking is available and how to get to the Town Hall via sidewalks/trails.

*IABO has applied for funding through the Statewide Fire and Building Safety Education Fund (675 IAC 12-11).  Please DO NOT pay in advance as an invoice will be sent following the class.


This course consists of six contact hours and earns 0.6 ICC PPN CEU's.  


Course Description:

This seminar will explore the various codes applicable to the construction and inspection of commercial kitchens.  Topics covered will include the structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hoods, and accessibility requirements as they pertain to the plan review and inspection of commercial kitchens using Indiana’s adopted codes.  Designed as an interactive class, participants are encouraged to bring questions about experiences they have encountered in plan review and/or the field.


Instructor:  Kenneth Seal

Husband, Father, Soldier, Building Commissioner.  Kenneth Seal has held many titles over the course of his life and career.  Starting in the construction industry at the age of 14, Kenneth has spent nearly three decades working in roles including laborer, carpenter, foreman, and superintendent.  While honing these skills Kenneth also heard the call to military service and has served in the United States Army for more than two decades, including seven overseas tours.  Kenneth’s foray into inspections began in 2015 with the City of Indianapolis and continues today with the City of Greenwood, where he serves as building commissioner.  Kenneth also serves as the Director of District 5 for the Indiana Association of Building Officials (IABO), and he was the 2022 Nick Nicholson Education Award recipient from IABO.


Registration Deadline:

The registration deadline is March 10, 2023 at 11:59 pm.  No registrations will be received after March 10 and no walk-ins will be allowed the day of the training.

After registration is successfully submitted a confirmation email will be sent to the email address entered during registration.


Cancellation Policy:
All cancellations must be received in writing no later than March 10, 2023 to avoid penalty.  All late cancellations and no shows will be billed $50.  Faxed cancellations must be verified they were received.  It is the responsibility of the registrant to make the verification.  Emergencies will be dealt with on an individual basis.


Attendance Notice Regarding Certificates/Funding: 

Indiana Association of Building Officials is committed to complying with the requirements of the Division of Fire and Building Safety, as they administer the education fund.

As Indiana Association of Building Officials submits the request for funding on behalf of the membership, IABO will not submit an attendee’s name who does NOT attend the entire class; failure to attend the entire class renders that attendee ineligible for funding.
