2014 Indiana Building Code: Accessibility and Usability for Commercial Buildings

A training seminar sponsored by the Indiana Association of Building Officials, Inc. a chapter of the International Code Council, Inc.


Date: Thursday, November 21, 2024

  • Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.
  • Class will start at 9:00 a.m.
  • There will be 1-hour allotted for lunch (lunch will not be provided)

*IABO has applied for funding through the Statewide Fire and Building Safety Education Fund (675 IAC 12-11).  Please DO NOT pay in advance as an invoice will be sent following the class.


This course consists of six contact hours and earns 0.6 ICC PPN CEU's.


Course Description:

This seminar focuses on the minimum requirements for new or existing construction accessible commercial facilities for compliance with the 2014 Indiana Building Code and ICC A117.1-2009 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities. It addresses the design, plan review and inspection of commercial buildings to ensure that people with physical impairments, visual impairments and hearing impairments can use the facilities.

 

Instructors:  Jay Woodward, Senior Staff Architect

Woodward’s more than 40 years of experience in building design, construction, code enforcement and instruction provide him with the ability to address issues of code application and design for code enforcement personnel as well as architects, designers, and contractors. Woodward has previously served as the Secretariat for the ICC A117.1 Accessibility Standard committee, ICC’s International Energy Conservation Code, and the International Building Code’s Fire Safety Code Development committee. A graduate of the University of Kansas and a registered architect, prior to joining ICC Jay has also worked as an architect for the Leo A. Daly Company in Omaha, Nebraska; as a building plans examiner for the City of Wichita, Kansas; and as a senior staff architect for the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO). He is also a co-author of Significant Changes to the International Building Code and author of Significant Changes to the A117.1 Accessibility Standard and for the Firestopping, Joint Systems and Dampers.


Registration Deadline:

The registration deadline is November 17 at 11:59 pm.  No registrations will be received November 17 and no walk-ins will be allowed the day of the training.

After registration is successfully submitted a confirmation email will be sent to the email address entered during registration.


Cancellation Policy:
All cancellations must be received in writing no later than November 17, 2024 to avoid penalty.  All late cancellations and no shows will be billed $50.  Faxed cancellations must be verified they were received.  It is the responsibility of the registrant to make the verification.  Emergencies will be dealt with on an individual basis.


Attendance Notice Regarding Certificates/Funding: 

Indiana Association of Building Officials is committed to complying with the requirements of the Division of Fire and Building Safety, as they administer the education fund.

As Indiana Association of Building Officials submits the request for funding on behalf of the membership, IABO will not submit an attendee’s name who does NOT attend the entire class; failure to attend the entire class renders that attendee ineligible for funding.
